BRIGHT SPOTS

photography LYNN KARLIN  |  words JOANNE FRIEDRICK

Showy, flamboyant, lavish—there’s seldom anything subtle when nature
comes into full bloom. Why should it be anything else? It’s our reward
for the long winter and the fickle early spring with teasingly warm days
followed by chill rains and even a few flakes. We wait for the signs of greening life.
Then we segue into breathless anticipation as the leaves and stems rise,
buds form and suddenly, color bursts forth. We let out a contented sigh…
the flowers are here!
