Cooking Classes

Classes taught by Allison Lakin, Lakin's Gorges Cheese, and Neal Foley, Foley's Custom Sawmill.

Classes are all held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at East Forty Farm and Dairy, 2361 Friendship Road, Waldoboro ME 04572. Information and tickets available at or by calling Allison at 207-230-4318

Dec. 10:
Cooking class: Trifle. This dessert, with its layers of cake, fruit, spirits, custard and cream, will appeal to all guests.  We'll learn from scratch techniques to create this elegant and indulgent Christmas treat. $25 per person

Dec 17:
Creating your Holiday Cheese Board.  Go beyond the cheese cube to create an exceptional cheese board that will delight the eye as well as the palate.  Fun and interactive. Learn about food and cheese pairings to dazzle your guests.  $35 per person

Jan 21:
Cooking Class: Ravioli. Learn to make this delicious stuffed pasta from scratch without fuss. Starting with the fresh pasta, we will make several different sauces and fillings, some traditional, some unexpected.  $30 per person

Feb 11:
Cooking Class: 2nd Annual Fondue Class.
What better way to warm up and get cozy, then with bubbling, melted cheese, bread, vegetables and fruit.  Quick to make and unlimited variations.  $35 per person

Feb 25:
Cooking Class: Cassoulet. 
This quintessential French casserole of beans, pork,and duck is a hearty, warming winter dish. Learn the techniques to bring these ingredients together for this traditional farmhouse fare. $35 per person

Mar 11:
Cooking Class: Sausage Making.
The East Forty Farm pastured pigs are ready to be harvested. Now it's time to make sausage.  Learn the basic techniques of how to turn meat into bundles of flavor from the simple to complex.  Learn about choosing appropriate casing size, curing and aging, and non traditional sausage styles. Then take home some of the creations to enjoy.  $50 per person

Apr 22:
Hands on: Planting Your Dinner.
It's time to start thinking about what you want to eat out of your garden.  Working in the soil at East Forty Farm, we will take take the mystery out of compost; tackle the hard work of garden planning with an eye towards meals to enjoy later in the summer; and learn tips to seed starting to ensure you are ready for Spring planting.  $20 per person.

May 13:
Mother's Day Brunch at East Forty Farm.
Join us at the farm and meet Darla the Spokescow and the pigs and poultry. Stroll down to the Medomak River along the forest path. Enjoy a seasonal, local food menu - many items raised or produced right here.  Limited to 20 people. Reservations required.  Price TBD
